ENVIRONMENTAL CHECK

Updated: Apr 6, 2020

Can you imagine an environment that is filled with all of the resources that you need to be successful? I imagine that's what the Garden of Eden was like; a place filled with every natural resource that was needed for Adam and Eve to be successful backed by the presence of God.

Genesis 2:15 reads, "The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it."

But in Genesis 3:16, we noticed a change in the environment. The scripture states,

"When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it (NIV)."

Toxicity entered the garden.

How often do we partake of things that are appetizing to the eyes but dangerous to the garden of our souls?

Just because a thing exists in our environment does not mean we need to engage ourselves with it.

Let's examine our environmental conditions so that we can work, create, protect, and sustain an environment that generates the presence of God so that we can ultimately flourish in our soulful purpose.

Are there things in your environment that are toxic to your relationship with God?

It's time to fertilize your garden to remove the pests so that the fertility of the soil in your garden, your environment, and YOUR SOUL can grow nutritious and healthy crops that will give you the resources you need to be successful.

Dear Heavenly Father,

You sent your son, Jesus Christ, the master gardener who is able to eliminate any unnatural condition from my environment that is toxic to my soul.

I have tasted of some things that are good to my taste buds but hideous to my soul.

As the Psalmist David cried out, I cry out to you God, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Please do not cast me away from your presence, and please do not take your Holy Spirit from me.

Wash the garden of my soul.

Fertilize my thinking and transform my mind as I mediate on your word.

Eliminate toxicity from my life and fill me so that my environment is filled with your holy presence. Open the eyes of my soul so that I can see the wonders of your word, in the name of Jesus, amen.
