The Gift of Salvation

WHAT IS SALVATION?

The gift of salvation has been made available through the blood of Jesus Christ. It is the initial stage of redemption. The word salvation comes from the Greek word “Soteria”, which means deliverance (Romans 10:9-10, John 1:12). In the New Testament, we see the word salvation being used to define material and temporal deliverance from danger and apprehension. The word deliverance means a release from bondage, imprisonment and liberation from captivity. The word salvation can be defined as deliverance from all curses, including death.

Salvation cannot be limited to the initial stage of redemption-forgiveness of sins. According to the Word of God, one will be saved from enemies (Luke 1:71), saved from sins (Romans 10:1, 9-10), delivered from slavery, (Acts 7:25), and saved from physical infirmity (Acts 4:12).

Please understand, salvation does not mean that one is perfect, but it does mean that one has been forgiven (Romans 3:23-24).

WHAT DOES SALVATION COST ME?

Salvation is made available to every person through the blood of Jesus Christ. What this means is that the price has already been paid by the blood of Jesus Christ. In the book of I Corinthians 6:19-20, the word of God states, that you are not your own, but one that has been bought with a price. As we read in Ephesians 2:8-9, the scripture reads, “For by Grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works (your own efforts), lest any man should boast.”

WHAT MUST YOU DO TO RECEIVE SALVATION?

1. You must admit that you are a sinner.

2. You must repent of your sins.

3. You must confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

PRAY THIS PRAYER (OUT LOUD) RIGHT NOW...

Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and made myself unclean before you. I understand that I deserve death (eternal separation from God) as the penalty for my sins. I repent and turn away from my life style of sin and selfishness. The sins of this world. I believe that Jesus Christ has already paid the price for my sins. From this day forward, I declare that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior of my life. I pray this prayer in the name of Jesus, Amen.
