DAILY DEVOTION

Romans 12:20

"If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."

Proverbs 24:17-19

Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles, lest the Lord see it and be displeased, and turn away his anger from him.

REFLECTION

I want you to think about one person who’s not your friend but an enemy. Do you know that one of the most valuable things that you can do for your enemy is to pray for them?

Begin to desire salvation, healing, deliverance, safety, and provision for your enemy. Pray that the person will end the cycle of spiraling sin. Begin to desire happiness for this person. Don’t entertain negative thoughts about this person. Each time a negative thought comes to you, read Romans 10:1. Ask God to give you a heart that desires salvation and happiness for this person.

Meditate on Romans 10:1, which reads,

My heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

As you pray for this person, watch God move in that person’s life and yours too. Pray for your enemy.

PRAYER DIRECTIVE

Ask the Lord to sanctify you and cleanse you with the washing of the water by his word.
