LOVING CORRECTION

40 Days of Amazing Love – A love letter from God -Day 21 LOVING CORRECTION

DAILY DEVOTION

Proverbs 3:5-12 The Message (MSG)

Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own.

Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.

Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil!

Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life!

Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over.

But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction.

It’s the child he loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this.

REFLECTION

His promises are for those who believe in the redeeming work of Jesus Christ.

One of the hardest thing for a child to understand is correction from a parent. Each time my biological father would discipline me he’d say, “I’m doing this because I love you”. I hated hearing those words because the discipline never felt like love.

Contrariwise, God is no different. Because we are his children and he loves us dearly, we can expect discipline from Him when we needed. Our heavenly Father tells us that he disciplines the child he loves. A parent who truly loves his/her child will take the time to correct them when they err. Correction is always done in a loving manner and with the intent to change the negative behavior to a positive behavior.

God truly discipline those he loves.

PRAYER DIRECTIVE

Ask the Lord to reveal to you ways you can reflect his love to others.
