We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. I John 4:6-8

REFLECTION

As you think about God’s love, what are some challenges you face loving people that are different from you? Do you think you are superior to others because of your race, gender, education, and/or economic status?

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for loving me so much that you sent your Son to wash away my sins.

Thank you for showing me what love looks like.

I did not deserve your love, but you have demonstrated your love despite my weaknesses.

Forgive me, Lord, for my selfish perspectives and selfish acts.

Forgive me, Lord, for thinking that I am better than others because of my race, gender, education, and economic status.

Spirit of Truth, enter my heart, mind, and soul. Cleanse me from my secret faults.

Fill my heart with a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Help me to demonstrate my love to you by loving people that are different from me.
