THE ALABASTER BOX
The moral of the alabaster box story in Luke 7:36-50 is that we all have a special gift that we can bring to Jesus so that he can use for the glory of the Father. Jesus recognized that this woman gave her inheritance, all that she had. She washed his feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. She used the oil from her alabaster box to anoint his feet. While others focused on her sin, Jesus focused on her heart. He saw the love that she demonstrated to him, which proved that her sins had been forgiven. Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
Too often we focus on symptoms rather than how much we can pour out our love for Jesus Christ, our Savior. When the love of Jesus washes our lives, there is no room for sin. Let's focus on bringing our best to Jesus. Let's focus on giving him all that we have to bring glory to our Father.
Sometimes we're looking for God to bring us joy, healing, or financial peace; but, we need to open up our alabaster boxes and pour out our love upon him because He deserves it.
DEAR HEAVENLY FATHER,
Thank you for showing me that I am valuable to you.
You have forgiven me for all of my sins. When others see me as worthless, you have reminded me that I am worthy of your love. That's all that matters.
Lord, increase my faith day by day.
Allow my love for you to shine brightly in dark places.
In the name of Jesus, amen.
~inspiring hope and seasoning faith,
