40 Days of Amazing Love – A love letter from God - Day 31 A NEW ATTITUDE

DAILY DEVOTION

Ephesians 4:22-24

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

REFLECTION

How’s your attitude? If you’re fasting and praying during these 40 days, you may have had some rough moments. But, by now you probably have learned how to overcome during those difficult times.

You’re growing stronger in the faith each day. God is working things out for you as you continue to give up what you really enjoy—in most cases, food—and focus on him.

I want to encourage you today to maintain a spirit-filled attitude during these last nine (9) days of prayer and fasting.

As you continue in prayer and fasting, old habits, old ways, and old thoughts are being removed from your mind. Remember, old ways won't open new doors.

A mind corrupted by deceitful desires closes doors.

When your thoughts try to get the best of you while you’re fasting, I want you to read aloud Philippians 4:8. Read the scripture several times and let the word of God renew your mind.

Philippians 4:8

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Think on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. Your attitude will change. You will be refreshed. The word of God will wash away anything that does not honor God.

God's word will protect you. God's word will sustain you. God's word will deliver you from situations that only the hand of God can touch, deliver, and set you free.

Your mind is being renewed day by day.

Your new attitude will create a new you shaped in the image of God reflecting his righteousness and holiness.

A new attitude stems from a renewal of the mind--new habits, new ways, and new thoughts.

Be refreshed!

PRAYER DIRECTIVE

Ask the Lord to sanctify you and cleanse you with the washing of the water by his word.
