40 Days of Amazing Love – A love letter from God - Day 8 I WILL COME TO YOU
DAILY DEVOTION
“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[a] in you.
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
John 14:15-19 NIV
REFLECTION
One of the greatest gifts is the Holy Spirit. Our lifeline to God by which he bestows many gifts upon us is through the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit gives Christians power, insight, understanding, and revelations that are beyond natural understanding.
How does one receive the Holy Spirit?
“Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit’” (Acts 2:38).
“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. (2 Timothy 1:6)
The bible identifies ways to receive the Holy Spirit; they are through repentance, belief, baptism, and laying on of the hands after baptism. When a minister lays hands on a person and asks God to give the Holy Spirit to them, you will receive if you believe. (Acts 8:14-17)
PRAYER DIRECTIVE
Heavenly Father, I repent of my sins. Forgive me. Wash me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness.
Sometimes I feel all alone, but your word says you would not leave me as an orphan. I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit. Dwell in me so that I may commune with you and grow.
Spirit of Truth reveal my gifts to me. I want to use my gifts to glorify God. Holy Spirit, stir up the gifts that are in me so that I can live a purposeful life, in the name of Jesus, amen.
I want to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.
