KEYS TO SELF-GOVERNMENT

Updated: Apr 6, 2020

As we look around society today, we see public chaos that God never intended for us to experience. Many believe that the answers lie in education, religion, business, government, and economics. I believe these entities have some answers but the real answer is much simpler

The greatest and most successful government of mankind, the ultimate and most perfected government is self-government.

What our country is really suffering from is a lack of self-government. What we are witnessing is not a community problem but a self-government problem.

God’s original intent for man was to work, create, cultivate, protect, and sustain. God’s divine goal for us is to experience heaven’s culture on earth, which is a very orderly culture. Self-government is all about order but it begins with each of us living a life that is decent and in order.

In Genesis 2:5, we discover that God withheld the rain because he did not have a man to tend to the grounds. Why? God does not want growth without management. God does not want development without management because chaos repels resources. When you are organized, your life will attract the resources you need to do and become everything that God has designed you to become.

Here are six practical keys to self-government as described by Dr. Myles Munroe that can be used to enhance and transform your personal and professional lives.

  1. Management is the primary goal of mankind.

  2. Whatever you fail to manage, you will lose.

  3. God’s primary measure of trusting you with material is management.

  4. God will give to whomever effectively manages.

  5. Management attracts resources. You get paid for the problems you solve.

  6. God will not give you what you pray for only for what you can effectively manage.

In other words, don’t pray for what you cannot manage. God will protect things from you that you cannot manage.

LET US PRAY

Heavenly Father,

Forgive me for blaming the government, my job, family, friends, and co-workers for things that I am displeased with in my life.

I recognize the I am responsible for governing myself and the resources that you have already blessed me with.

Help me to develop my work ethics. Give me a creative spirit and a genuine heart to cultivate, protect, and sustain what you have given me so that I can be prepared to receive resources to accomplish everything that you have created me to do on this earth, in the name of Jesus, amen.
