"Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach…(Isaiah 54:4)". Shame is a painful feeling of humiliation, disgrace, embarrassment, and discomfort caused by conscious behavior.
We have all had our shame moments.
The student who lost his scholarship because of misplaced priorities.
The man who lost his job because of theft.
The child whose been told that they were a mistake.
The wife who tells her husband, “You’ve ruined my life”.
The teacher who constantly say to his/her students, “Shame on you”.
The coach who tells his players, “I’m disappointed in you”.
The 16 year old young woman got pregnant out of wedlock and aborted her child.
Some are more embarrassing than others but they all share the same feeling; the feeling of humiliation, disgust, and disgrace. Shame is an emotional game that the enemy uses to confound you and to stop you from blossoming into the beautiful person that God has designed you to become.
Shaming may start off verbal but becomes non-verbal. The voices in your head tell you things about yourself that have been spoken by someone else who is trying to shame you either knowingly or unknowingly. You have to stop these voices in your head by applying God's word, which is how he thinks of you.
Remember, God does not shame us. Instead, God wants to wipe away your shame. Blaming and shaming is a tool of the enemy. When implemented properly, shame gives birth to the triplets called condemnation, fear, and rejection. Nevertheless, God has a different plan for you.
The Word of God has demolished condemnation. The bible says, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).”
We do not have to be trapped by fear because God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7 ESV). Say to fear, “Shame no more. You cannot reside in the conscience of my mind. You are no more than false evidence that appears to be real.”
Rejection is part of the emotional shame game that makes you feel unworthy of love, unworthy of kindness, unworthy of goodness, unworthy of joy, unworthy of all of the fruit of the spirit, which is contrary to God’s word. Be reminded, “The Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance (Psalms 94:14).” God loves you. “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame (Romans 10:11).”
When the tormenting spirits remind you of your failure, you say, “Shame no more”.
When the tormenting spirits tell you that you will never amount to anything in life, you say, “Shame no more”.
When the tormenting spirits tell you that you’re ugly, obese, or unattractive, you say, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made by God and His intentions for me are good. Shame no more”.
When the tormenting spirits tell you that you were a mistake, you say, “Shame no more. I am the head not the tail. Above only and not beneath. I come behind in no good thing and everything that I set my hands to prospers.”
Tell those tormenting spirits of shame, condemnation, fear, and rejection, “Shame no more”. I now trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock (Isaiah 26:4).
Let’s Pray:
Heavenly Father,
I pray that every tormenting spirit of shame be bound in the name of Jesus.
I pray that every tormenting spirit of condemnation be bound in the name of Jesus.
I pray that every tormenting spirit of fear be bound in the name of Jesus.
I pray that every tormenting spirit of rejection be bound in the name of Jesus, Amen.
I will not be afraid. I will not be put to shame. I will not be disgraced. I will not be humiliated. I will forget the shame of my youth. My face will never be covered with shame, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
