HE CALLS ME FRIEND

Updated: Apr 5, 2020

It's day 7 of 21 days of prayer. Today, we are praying for God to make us stronger in our position of being new creations in Christ. "If any man be in Christ he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)." All things becoming new can be like changing jobs. Whenever a person moves to a new position in the workforce, he or she is given new duties and responsibilities. In this new year, it is imperative that we understand our duty and responsibility as new creations in Christ.

God Makes Us His Friends

God made us new creations with his infinite love for us through Christ by changing us from enemies into his friends. God also gave us the task of making others his friends. "Our message is that God was making the whole human race his friends through Christ. God did not keep an account of their sins, and he has given us the message which tells how he makes them his friends (2 Corinthians 5: 18-19 GNB)." God reconciled us to himself through the work of Jesus Christ. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He passes on to us the duty and responsibility of bringing others into relationship with God. This is the purpose of the gospel message. Once restored, God makes us His friends; thus becoming new creations in Christ.

REFLECTION & MEDITATION

There is a song we sing called, "I Am A Friend God" written by Israel Houghton. The song reflects on the relationship we have with God, contemplating how God thinks about us and when we finally realize that this almighty, omniscient God REALLY loves us, we declare that it's absolutely amazing to know that we are friends! What an amazing revelation and what an amazing message we have to offer our fellow man. God loves you and me! To listen to song, click here.

OUR PRAYER

Lord, thank you for giving me such an amazing assignment. Thank you for making me a new creation. I am honored to be your friend and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. You have brought me into a personal knowledge of how great You are and given me the privilege of introducing my family and friends to the same joy. Sometimes it's difficult to share my faith with others. Sometimes I'm not certain of what to say. But I exchange fear for faith. I exchange doubt for courage and confidence to let your light in me shine brightly. I ask for wisdom and discretion to know when and how to present the gospel. I ask You to fill my tongue with Your words. I pray that everyone around me will see the light of Your love in me and receive the relationship You desire to have with them. In Jesus's name, Amen!
