Baptism

In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus said,

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Why should I be water baptized?

The number one reason you should be water baptized is that it is an act of obedience. It was established, ordained and commanded by Jesus Christ; and it demonstrates that you are truly a believer.

At High Hopes Church, water baptism is the next step you take after you have made a decision to follow Jesus Christ. We provide a Water Baptism Course to ensure you understand why you need to be water baptized, the meaning of baptism, why we baptize by immersion and to be sure, you are ready to be water baptized.

We believe it is an outward picture of a changed heart, brought on by a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is your public declaration to all family, friends and associates, that you have made a decision to follow Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

What about water baptism for children?

At High Hopes Church, we encourage and give opportunities for children to make a decision to follow Jesus. Our children are encouraged to not just learn about Jesus, but to learn from Jesus by walking with Him every day. We ask parents to carefully discern if their child is ready to be water baptized. Usually, if they are not asking about it, they are not ready. We require this because, it is important that they understand and remember the significance of this spiritual milestone in their life.
