Day 4 of 21 Days of Prayer. Dump a pile of Lego blocks on the floor in front of a group of kids and watch what happens. The mind is unlimited in what it can build. Just as a child takes off the limits (Hebrews 12:1) when they are at play, we too must remove all limits and allow our creative minds to go beyond its natural comfort zone when approaching the unknown. Lay aside doubt, fear, and unbelief and embrace new frontiers knowing that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses who believe we can build a vision and accomplish our dreams (Hebrews 12:1).
Every Lego block the child touches represents a piece of the vision that will ultimately become a house, a building, a car or whatever their minds can imagine. God wants us to have fun while we’re building. He wants us to take off the limits and allow ourselves to trust the process knowing that we’re backed with his favor.
Just as a child learns when he/she is building using Lego blocks, God is teaching, growing, and shaping us as we build the vision according to his plan. He gave Noah a vision to build an ark. The same skills children use to build space stations, airports, and robots using Lego blocks, are skills Noah either already had or acquired while building the ark.
When God gives you a vision (instructions, directions, plans), he will equip you to bring it to pass. Before you start building the vision, your thoughts and ideas may look like a pile of Lego blocks, but God wants you to dive in. You may feel ill-equipped, but that’s aright, God gave you the vision and he is certain to bring it to pass (Habakkuk 2:2), one Lego block at a time.
The Vision Takes Shape When You Dive-In
God will increase you as you obey him. Additionally, while you’re building, God is shaping you and the team during the process. Whatever you lack, God will fine tune it during the process. Here are eight things a vision will do for you once you dive in the pile of Lego blocks and remove the limits:
1-Vision Improves Fine Motor Skills
Noah’s developed fine motor skills by handling cypress wood of different sizes and shapes. Every vision will challenge you to put your hands on something that will that will be shaped into something that's greater than its beginning. Don't despise the smaller pieces because they are building blocks for something greater.
2-Vision Promotes Teamwork
Noah’s wife, sons, and daughter-in-laws joined him to bring the vision to pass. They had to learn how to work together while building the ark. In additional, they had to work as a team to take care of the animals while on the ark. Teamwork will make your dream work.
3-Vision Improves Communication Skills
Noah evidently had exceptional communication skills to organize, manage, an executive cruise ship that catered to animals more than people. Not only is it important for you to understand yourself, but it's imperative to understand others.
4-Vision Hones Problem Solving and Mathematical Skills
Can you imagine the mathematical skills Noah used to cut the boards to build the ark? Not only that, but I’m almost certain he ran into problems along the way. The next time you experience a problem, don't runaway. It's a Lego block that is part of the process to teach you along the way. Your problems are your Lego blocks to fulfilling the vision.
5-Vision Sparks Creativity
Noah did something that had never been done. Don’t allow anyone to talk you out of doing what God has called you to do. If your dream is to go to college, do it. If your dream is to buy a new home, do it. Whatever your dream is, take it before God, get his instructions, and move forward. Your ideas are fuel to the vision.
6-Vision Grows Persistence
You know when you’re doing what God has called you to do because you don’t give up. You may get discouraged but somehow there’s a flicker of hope on the inside that doesn’t die. It keeps your dream alive. That’s called persistence. It will keep your vision moving even when the times are tough.
7-Vision Improves Self-esteem
There’s no better feeling than accomplishing what God has given you to do. You feel better. You respond to others in a positive way when you’re obedient to God.
8-Vision Sharpens Planning and Lateral Thinking
Vision will cause you to plan for success. You will analyze what you do. Erase things off the paper. Write and rewrite to fix things during the process.
As you obey God’s vision for your life, “You will increase and prosper in the land (Jeremiah 3:16 MSG).” Others will be blessed by your obedience.
Let’ Pray: Father God, although I am afraid, although I do not understand it all, I take a leap of faith and dive into the Lego blocks to experience the growth, learning, and changes that you want me to undergo. Thank you for giving me the dream and teaching me during the process. Holy Spirit, help me during the process so that others will be blessed by my obedience.
