PRIORITY MANAGEMENT

Time management is an oxymoron. Time is beyond our control, and the clock keeps ticking regardless of how we lead our lives. Priority management is the answer to maximizing the time we have (John Maxwell).

Priorities can be changed but time cannot. What is important enough to make you pause doing things you want to do, so that you can maximize your time doing what you know you really should do? If it is that important, it is probably a priority.  Ephesians 5:15-16 reminds us to “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.”  In simpler terms, we might call this priority management.  Managing priorities will position you to maximize your time by putting first things first.

For example, if you have three things that are important, you can only pursue them effectively one at a time.  When you make that decision, your mental, physical and spiritual energy can then exercise maximum focus on each task or goal, ultimately achieving success in a shorter period of time.  Failure to manage priorities is failure to manage time.  And, failure to manage time leads to loss of drive and motivation to achieve your goals.  If you want to be successful in 2018, you must practice priority management.

We can begin the process, by making prayer a priority!

Father, in the name of Jesus, help me to put first things first.  This year, my desire is to do more than just start the goals You have given me but to complete them in an epic manner.  I know that when I pray according to Your will, You hear me and have promised to bring that request to pass.  Of this, I am confident, but please help me to put each task in the correct order. I must prioritize so that I can redeem the time.  Thank you for birthing Your vision within me and I surrender my dreams and hope to You.  Today, I give you the most important things in my life and trust in You with all my heart. Lead me, guide me and by Your grace direct my path.  In the name of Jesus, Amen!
