Significance of the Shofar

Sunday, March 5, 2017

During our 40 Days of Prayer & Fasting, we will release the sound of the shofar daily. The sound of the shofar is a reminder to us that we need God and his guidance more than ever before. In Deuteronomy 30:2, the word states, "It is my hope that this will encourage you to “return to the LORD and listen to His Voice”. It's time for us to separate and detach ourselves from distractions so that we can hear what the spirit of the Lord is saying.

According to Hebrew for Christians, "The shofar (ram’s horn) is often used as an instrument of spiritual warfare." An example is provided in the Torah, which states, “When you go to war in your land against an adversary who is oppressing you, you are to sound an alarm with trumpets; then you will be remembered before the LORD your God and you will be saved from your enemies (Numbers 10:9)."

For those who believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the blast of the shofar represents the shout of God’s victory over the power of sin and death through his only son, Jesus Christ.

We would be delighted if you'd join us for 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting. To learn more, click Let's Pray Together.

Thank you!
