God's Amazing Love

Wednesday, December 21, 2016

If you mention “Snowpocalyse Atlanta”, everyone seems to remember the headlines, the tweets, the stories, and social media chatter about this event. Many mocked Atlantans failing to realize how the ice impacted the driving conditions. People were stranded for hours on interstate highways. Some walked home while others took shelter in Home Depot, Publix, CVS, fire stations, and not to mention the children that remained at school. While many were stranded, good Samaritans showed up to help as many people as possible.

I’m reminded of Snowpocalyse today because my neighbor was locked out of her home during the winter storm. She walked down the sidewalk in the frigid weather to our home to stay warm until a locksmith would arrive so that she could regain entry to her home. Many acts of kindnesses were freely given during this time.

Now, I’m sharing this with you because as I was reminiscing 2016 and thinking about the holidays, I heard a soft knock at the door.  As I approached the door, I saw someone standing with a package in arm. Immediately I noticed it was not UPS or FedEx because they normally drop the package by the front door and leave. When I opened the door, I was greeted by the neighbor who was locked out of her home in January 2014. She spoke words of cheer and comfort and thanked me for letting her in our home during Snowpocalyse. She handed me a gift with a beautiful Christmas card. I was really moved by her kind gesture. Personally, when I give, it’s unconditional so I was not expecting anything in return. As I closed the door, I heard in my spirit, “God’s amazing love”. The Christmas card was opened after I heard those words. When I opened the card, the words confirmed what I heard in my spirit. I want to leave you with the words that were printed on the Christmas card:

As we celebrate

the birth of our Lord,

May we share with others

the love he came to bring.

“Let us love one another

for love comes from God”

I John 4:7

Over your life, you have done many good deeds. God has not forgotten about you or your labor of love. Continue to spread God’s amazing love during this holiday season as we celebrate our Lord. In doing so, it will bring gladness to others, as well as, to you.

Merry Christmas!
